She quickly learned that the sun was too blistering

so she closed her eyes in belief that this time it would be different.

Her sensitivity made her vulnerable to reddened skin and painful touch

As she had experienced from past interactions with the rays

Yet, she continues to face the heat--not because she wants to be hurt again, but because she knows the

feel

of its warmth.

And the intoxicating comfort of bathing in its light

Naive?

perhaps.

But she risks it, once more, and closes her eyes to protect herself from the initial hit

and hopes that this time

she won’t be singed.
